Laser Dentistry
06/23/2008 - By Dr.Tzvi Rubinger
Just because a dentist owns a laser he or she is not necessarily a “laser dentist”. Most lasers in dentistry are limited in their use in a narrow spectrum of procedures. The Waterlase dental laser changes all of that.
It is the ultimate in dental lasers as it can be use for all or part of most dental procedures regardless of the tissue type it is used on (gum, tooth, bone).
Waterlase dentistry uses laser energy and water to perform a wide range of dental procedures on all tissue types. These procedures are often accomplished with less on no local anesthetic, reduced anxiety and quicker less eventful healing.
Because the Waterlase device does not use vibration, heat or blades, less post operative inflammation and discomfort are experienced. Gum treatment can be accomplished with little or no bleeding and no stitches. As well, the laser kills 99% of the bacteria it contacts resulting in cleaner cavities to be filled and cleaner surgical areas reducing the risk of postoperative infections.
